Preparing pot for planting is always confusing. There are 10 steps to prepare the pots for planting. How to prepare pots for planting in 10 steps 1. Soak the terracota pot in water for 1-2 hrs (not required for plastic pots or grow bags). Check that there is drainage hole and it works. 2. Cover the drainage hole with stone or gravel. This helps in avoiding blockage of drainage hole by soil. 3. Put one layer of Coarse soil till stone level to cover it well. 4. Put one layer of cocopeat or sand for good water holding capacity. 5. Cover with one more layer of coarse soil. 6. Put one layer of compost , if you are prepare compost at home use that 7. Prepare pot mix in 2:1:1 Ratio of Soil:Compost:Cocopeat or Sand and put the soil in the pot to cover it well. 8. Prepare water for 1st time with putting 1 cap neem oil.
